LONG-TERM PICKS

Callum Elder (Hull, DEF 5.0) — there are a lot of good options among defenders who can contribute a goal but I bet no one considered this Australian international. Hull City played their last 3 games in 3–5–2 formation, having won all of them conceding only one goal. Callum Elder haven’t played left wingback yet because injuries of his teammates forced him to be utilized at the back three. Ryan Longman (FW, 5.5) who played LWB had a goal involvement in all three games (1 goal and 2 assists), so we can expect Elder having chances in almost every match.

SHORT-TERM PICKS

Semi Ajayi (West Brom, DEF 6.0) vs Coventry (A) — Baggies’ central midfield is in a big trouble. Jake Livermore is suspended. Jayson Molumby too. Robert Snodgrass got a back injury. I was wondering who will partner Alex Mowatt. Maybe some youngster? But then I remembered about Semi Ajayi. Centre-back, who at the start of season was unexpectedly benched, has an expirience at CDM position. In 2018/19 season he played for Rotherham and was deployed there in 22 of 46 games in which he scored 7 goals and made 1 assist. Semi is given a big chance to prove himself valuable.

EXPECTED XIs

Friday

19:45 GMT Fulham v Bournemouth

Saturday

12:30 GMT Coventry v West Bromwich

There’s a virus (not covid) walking among the Sky Blues, so expect some to be out

15:00 GMT Barnsley v Huddersfield

15:00 GMT Blackburn v Preston

15:00 GMT Blackpool v Luton

15:00 GMT Bristol City v Derby County

15:00 GMT Cardiff v Sheffield United

Not fact that Olsen returns to starting line-up given his goals prevented rate of 0.74 (expected goals on target conceded / actual goals conceded) compared to Foderingham’s 1.45.

15:00 GMT Middlesbrough v Swansea

15:00 GMT Millwall v Birmingham

“What about Ryan Woods?” — you would ask. He’s suspended until GW23 too. I’m praying with Bowyer that 17-year-old Jordan James will be fit.

15:00 GMT Nottingham Forest v Peterborough

15:00 GMT Reading v Hull

Yakou Meite (MID 8.5), whom I didn’t include in my previous previews because he suffered ACL injury in June that seemed to be season-ending-without-even-starting, is finally given a timeframe on his return.

Saturday

14:30 GMT QPR v Stoke

That’s all folks!
